OfficeServ QoS ( Quality Of Service) OfficeServ Intrusion Detection System is integrated within the OfficeServ MP11 or WIM Modules. Quality of Service (QoS) Quality of Service is a key element of the WIM. The primary goal of QoS is to provide priority including dedicated bandwidth, controlled jitter and latency (required by some real-time and interactive traffic such as voice), and improved loss characteristics.
In short QoS ensures that voice traffic gets priority. The QoS operates at various layers within the OSI model as outlined below. • Processes priority for layer 2 frames based on the IEEE specification 802.1p. In summary the QoS application sequentially assigns priority to packets entering the switch or by enforcing priority on a specific port and is a fundamental requirement for the transmission of voice across a network.
